I have had the absolute pleasure of traveling with our son Simon, the second time to minister God’s word to churches. The first was to Poland. This month to Mafikeng in RSA.
I have also done trips with our two daughters, Jenni and Lisa.
Simon, has a wisdom beyond his age, a huge gift and ability to communicate clearly. Our daughters excelled in their own giftings.
As my father read the scriptures to me as a boy, so did I to our children; Jenni, Simon and Lisa. All are serving the Lord today.
So what was the basics I did to build a ‘family name’. Why family name: well that is what proverbs is about. Most of the Old Testament is – “whose son are you?” Your stature depends on where, who you came from. After all today especially in Africa, chiefs and tribes are valued still, and
Here is a guide to the value of wisdom:
GUIDE:
In Prov chapter 1 it begins with: P1 “Listen my son to your father’s instruction”.
Prov 2 “My son/daughter, if you accept my works”.
Prov 3 “My son/daughter, do not forget my teaching”.
Prov 4 “Listen my sons/daughters to a father’s instruction”.
P5  “My son/daughter, pay attention to my wisdom,”
P6  “My son/daughter if you have…”
P7  “My son/daughter keep my words …”
P8 & 9  “Wisdom and understanding…”
P9  “Wisdom has hewn out her 7 pillars…”
Prov 6: 20 – “Keep your father’s commands and do not forsake your mother’s teaching”
Commands  come from a father & Teaching, come from the mother.
Prov 6:23 “For the commandment is a lamp, and the law is a light”
LAMP: Indoor … is in a house – so Mum is in the house and her life is rubbing off on the children in council and teaching.
LIGHT: Outdoor … so the father gives experiences as a way of instruction. The father shows how to make decisions through experiences, which train sons in values.
Such rich instruction for life is found in this book of wisdom.
